Computing Fun

This afternoon we have been learning how to give instructions to a simple program with Mr Rockey in our computing lesson. We learnt that we had to make our instructions clear and accurate so that the rocket that we were programming was able to visit all of the planets on the screen. We all worked together and thought about our sequence of instructions, making sure there were no mistakes. Here we all are working hard

Our Learning Today

Today we have been learning about Superworm. Superworm saves lots of bugs. We also learnt how to use Bee Bots. Bee bots will only do things that you tell them to do so you have to give them instructions. In maths we learnt how to make Play Doh into numbers and we used Mathletics to count on

Programmers watch out!

This afternoon I had the pleasure of teaching Thistle and Clover class. With new skills to learn, both classes enjoyed creating simple algorithims, sequences of exact instructions in order to direct their friends correctly to a specified location. Thistle class were treasure hunters, giving directions using just forwards, backwards, left and right to their friends to find the box of treasure. With clover class we took over the playground, which became outer space for the afternoon. The children worked brilliantly to give clear  instructions to arrive at each planet and even the International Space Station! This was computing in a way that the children had not seen before, but they were just brilliant and a joy to teach.

Here they all are in action, with some comments from clover class at the end.
